THE SEVENTH GRAVE (aka) LA SETTIMA TOMBA (1965)

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Rare gothic Italian horror.

SUMMERTIME KILLER (1973)

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

It’s the mighty Summertime Killer with the mightier chris Mitchum, blah-blah is, frankly, not required.

LA RAGAZZA DI TRIESTE (1982)

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Ben Gazzara, Ornella Muti with a bonehead and a Riz Ortolani Score; what in Samhain isn’t there to like here?

NEL BUIO DEL TERRORE (1972)

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

This is probably better known for its Carlo Savina soundtrack than the film itself, which has a truly stupendous Euro-Cult alumui, including: Stephen Boyd, Maris Mell, Sylvia Koscina and Fernando Rey.

DIARY OF A MURDERESS (1975)

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Entertaining Spanish Gialli about the murderous machinations of the delicious Marisa Mell with a literal who’s who of euro-cult thesping: Antony Steffen, Richard Conte, Marisa Mell and Carmen Maura. (Quality score my Carlo Savina)

LA POLIZIA BRANCOLA NEL BUIO (1975)

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Obscure Gialli from ‘75. (As yet unseen, so I have no opinion on its merits!)

THE BLOODSTAINED LAWN (1973)

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Very rare gialli with a nice score from Teo ‘Amuck’ Usuelli.

HOUSE OF THE DAMNED (1974)

Sunday, August 14th, 2011

Exemplary Spanish oddity starring that paragon of the strange Donald Pleasence.  (I only recently discovered this beauty and I’m very glad that I did!) Collectors of Donald, or obsessive watchers of psychotronic delirium should enjoy the spicy off-key ingredients within this unusually tart and fragrant confection. (A robust red or fruity Dunkel Bier might go rather well with a piping hot serving of ‘La Loba la Paloma’) Whether one returns for a second serving, depends very much on said individual’s degree of sanity! (Personally, I can always stand another portion of Pleasence!) CHEERS!

MY WIFE HAS A BODY TO DIE FOR (1973)

Sunday, August 14th, 2011

The always watchable Silvano Tranquili stars in this lesser known thriller about his beautiful wife being a bit of a dastardly nympho; needless to say our main man Tranquili is less than pleased with his wife’s relentless infidelities and it all ends how a good gialli should. (Yet again the film includes another choice, funky score to savour!)

THE TODD KILLINGS (1971)

Sunday, August 14th, 2011

Exemplary serial killer horror from ‘71. Nice performance from Robert F. Lyons as the titular looney-bird.
