Hugely atmospheric proto-Poltergeist effort from Bunuel Jnr, utilizing many of the familiar cinematic tropes found within the idiom, that are still readily appropriated by many genre film makers today.The zesty ‘Expulsion of The Devil’ features a modest contribution by a youthful Gerard Depardieu as a cynical TV sound-recordist who is abused by a sizeable pot of boiling French onion soup; if this terrible scalding asn’t due to an excess of claret, satanic tomfoolery may ell be afoot! Fans of euro-shock will certainly find much to enjoy here. I know I did!
