2019: AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK (1983)
2019: AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK (1983)

'2019: After The Fall of New York' is a righteously entertaining, albeit dunderheaded post apocalyptic entertainment from the prolific and profoundly eclectic exploitation alumnus, Sergio Martino (one can only surmise that being an Italian genre director in the early 80s and failing to helm a post holocaust actioner would’ve been considered as quite the intellectual faux pas!) and thankfully Martino guarantees that no cliché goes unpunished; as our be-leathered, sinewy hero (Sopkiw) hurls himself into the oh-so familiar milieu of barren, h-bomb seared wastelands; populated by a miasma of nefarious wastoids and uber corrupt militia, all of whom wish to deter our coffin-jawed hero, Parsifal? (a more lavender-hued moniker would be hard to imagine!) from claiming his prize; his greatest obstacle proving to be a rambunctious tussle with the  glowering, ever-demonstrative form of, George ‘Rabid Dogs’ Eastman. While this isn’t replete with the requisite dystopian fisticuffs of, Joe D'Amato's Endgame’, or quite match the sublime lunacy of Ruggero Deodato’sThe Atlantis Interceptors’….nonetheless, il maestro, Martino keeps all this relentless absurdity, and thick-ear set-pieces grooving with great alacrity; helped along admirably with a efficacious score by eveyone's crime-funk hero’s, Guido & Maurizio De Angelis. Any serious aficionado of Post Apocalyptic lunacy is unlikely to be underwhelmed by Martino’s worthy entry in this most micro of exploitation sub-genres.
